FOOLS ON THE HILL

The Republican led congress returned to “work” yesterday; voting on a series of bills that have zero chance of ever being signed into law.

Some might consider this exercise a colossal waste of time and expense.  But when your priorities are more about putting on a partisan show for your constituents than actually governing the country, wasting the taxpayer’s money on meaningless bills is a good day’s work.

The Senate passed a partisan budget bill that would repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood.  Merry Christmas to the 11.7 million Americans that will lose their health care, 70 million people who have taken advantage of the expansion of Medicaid and over 3 million women who rely on Planned Parenthood for contraceptives, HIV treatment, counseling and preventative care.

Not wanting to be left out of the nonsense; Democrats pushed through votes on gun control specifically to force Republicans to go on record opposing popular common sense measures. Democrats sponsored amendments that would tighten loopholes on background checks, prevent persons listed on terror watch lists from buying guns and strengthen mental health and substance abuse treatment.  All were defeated.

Lots of people talking.  Nobody’s listening.

Just another day for the Fools on the Hill.
