I LOVE IT

“I love it.”

Three words that will haunt the Trump administration for all eternity.  Three words that will put to rest the false narrative emanating out of this White House that the free press is engaged in a “witch hunt” fueled by angry Democrats still smarting over losing the election.  Three words that will inflict a mortal wound into the Republican agenda while effectively bringing an end to this presidency.

Donald trump Jr. was offered the opportunity to receive information from the Russian government that would damage his father’s opponent.  He was told that the information was part of the Russian government’s efforts to help his father win the general election.

Donald Trump could have refused to take the meeting.  Donald Trump Jr. could have taken this offer from a foreign adversary to the Justice Department or the FBI.  Donald Trump Jr. did not do either of these things.

Instead Donald Trump responded: “If this is what you say it is I love it.”  He then marshalled two of the most important and influential people in the Trump campaign to join him in what he believed could be a game changing meeting.

Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort and Trump Senior Advisor Jared Kushner joined Donald Trump Jr. in a meeting where they expected to obtain information from a representative of the Russian government that would harm Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump win the general election.

Then Donald Trump Jr. lied about it.  Repeatedly.

Donald Trump Jr.  tells us that nothing came from the meeting.  That the meeting ended up being about adopting Russian children and only lasted about twenty minutes.  Nothing to see here.  Trump supporters agree.  Nothing illegal about taking a meeting.  Nothing illegal about discussing Russians adoptions.  No harm no foul.

Then why lie about it?

Doesn’t matter.

Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner took that meeting intending to collude with a foreign government to affect the general election.  The fact that the meeting was a bust does not change the treasonous intent of the parties involved.

This is not fake news.  The investigation into possible collusion by members of the Trump campaign and the Russian government to affect the election is not a witch hunt.

Donald Trump Jr. told us so in his own words.

“I love it.”
