WHO DO YOU TRUST?

In what can only be described as the most significant political testimony since Watergate; fired FBI Director James Comey testified under oath that the President of the United States lied about the details of their private conversations, defamed both Comey and the FBI, made it clear that he wanted Comey to end the investigation into Michael Flynn’s activities and ultimately fired Comey for continuing the investigation of Russia’s interference in our elections.

In a stunning  omission; Comey stated that in his first private meeting with Trump he became so concerned about the impropriety of the conversation that kept contemporaneous notes of their conversations because he felt that the president would lie about the details.  Asked why he did not push back against the president regarding the legal impropriety of their conversations, Comey admitted that he was too stunned by what he was hearing to react properly.

To everyone’s surprise, the president remained silent throughout the proceeding; his twitter account unusually quiet.

The president’s personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, made a brief statement after Comey’s testimony stating the Comey had lied under oath and leaked classified documents to the press.

Most of what we heard today comes down to private conversations between two individuals with no witnesses to give a first hand account of who is telling the truth.

From my perspective…I have often said the Donald Trump’s inability to complete a paragraph without interjecting a false or misleading statement will some day come back to bite him in the ass.  At some point a matter of great importance will arise when he needs the country to have confidence in the veracity of what he is saying.  It is that moment when Trump’s repeated lies will come back to haunt him.

For my money today was that day.
