AS OSHKOSH GOES

They’re at it again.

As I predicted, Ted Cruz’ 13 point win in Wisconsin has the main stream media all a twitter over the impending demise of the Trump campaign.

Because as everyone knows…as Oshkosh goes so goes the country.

Trump’s post-election sore loser press release lambasting Cruz and ripping the Party establishment only served to fuel the narrative that the Trump campaign had finally come unhinged.

Well I hate to disappoint the media and the Trump haters within the Party but “the Donald” isn’t going anywhere soon.

If you want proof all you had to do is look at what happened in New York yesterday.

The Trump campaign held a rally on Long Island where 10,000+ screaming Trump zealots came out to welcome Trump home.  Meanwhile Cruz endured a chilly welcome in Brooklyn where he was heckled while appearing at a local eatery and then watched the backs of several college students who walked out on him during a sparsely attended campus event.

Want more proof that Trump is far from dead?  Consider the recently released Monmouth poll of New York primary voters:  Trump 52%…Kasich 25%.  As for the media’s newly crowned favorite, Ted Cruz…a distant 3rd at 17%.

In fact not only is the Trump campaign far from dead…if this Monmouth poll has legs it will mark the first time that Trump wins an election by exceeding the 50% threshold.  Trump has won 21 primaries/caucuses.  He has never received 50% of the vote.  That’s not dead, folks.  Quite the opposite.

And with the primary schedule after New York calling for elections in northeastern Trump strongholds like Maryland, Connecticut, Maine and Rhode Island; it’s hard to see Trump losing momentum.

Rumors of Trump’s demise are greatly exaggerated.

I’m not here to carry Trump’s water.  I just have a real issue with what are supposed to be seasoned, savvy journalists chasing shiny objects.

The fact is Wisconsin was a one off state with an electorate perfectly suited for Ted Cruz.  To his credit Cruz won.  But two weeks from now “Wisconsin Nice” will be a distant memory long forgotten.

Lost in the helter-skeltor of the media reporting is the real donnybrook that is about to take place at the Republican National Convention.

The Party elites are pushing for Ted Cruz’ success during the remaining primaries and caucuses.  Not because they like Ted Cruz.  They in fact hate him.  Listen to the stilted hold your nose endorsements Cruz has received from a few of his colleagues.  The elites are simply using Cruz as a vessel to gobble up votes and prevent Trump from gaining the required 1,237 delegates before the convention.  The plan then is for the elites to marshal their forces behind a more electable candidate… like Ryan or Romney…and push both Trump and Cruz aside at a contested convention.

Watching yesterday’s raucous Trump rally on Long island I couldn’t help but wonder what it will be like at the GOP Convention in Cleveland if the Party elites move to deny the nomination to the guy who has gone through the primary process…won the vast majority of votes cast…and holds 1100+ delegates…in favor of anyone else. You think Trump rallies are violent now?  This could happen.

According to a number of conservative pundits it WILL happen.  Respected conservative host of MSNBS’s popular “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough has said bluntly that Ted Cruz is so reviled within the Party that he will never be the Party’s nominee.  And unless he wins the required 1,237 delegates prior to the convention; neither will Donald Trump.  Scarborough is not alone in his prediction.

Oddly enough this is the scenario that the Party elites, Ted Cruz and John Kasich are hoping for; a violent raucous convention that will tear the Party apart.

Yet all the main stream media seems focused on is Ted Cruz faux momentum after winning in Kenosha.

Shiny objects!
