DEBATE PREP: EXECUTE THE GAYS

Republicans will stage their next presidential debate this evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It promises to be another entertaining event.

Tonight’s debate is supposed to focus on the economy.  However, since none of the candidates have offered the first hint of a plausible economic plan, my guess is that the questioning will turn to more controversial topics like:  Has Ben Carson been lying about his past? Would Jeb Bush rather be anyplace than here?  Why IS Rand Paul here?  And… why were Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal speaking at what Rachel Maddow referred to as a “ kill the gays rally”?  More on that later.

The pundits are already speculating on tonight’s winners and losers.

Most of the buzz surrounds Ben Carson.  There are signs that the mild mannered neurosurgeon is on the verge of imploding over the media scrutiny about his past.  Carson has already engaged in several heated conversations with reporters who have dared to question the veracity of his biographical accounts.  Will tonight’s moderators go there?  How will Carson respond if they do?

Then there is the confounding candidacy of Jeb Bush.  “Jeb!” a once popular Florida governor and far and away the leading fund raiser, is a flawed national candidate.  After a campaign reset meeting “Jeb!” 2.0 was supposedly ready to rebound.  But he bombed at the last debate and there is no reason to believe that tonight will be any different.  Can “Jeb!” perform well enough to stay in the race?

And what of Donald Trump?  Trump has made it a habit of going after whomever is running closest to him in the polls.  Tonight that would be Ben Carson.  Will Trump weigh in on Carson’s “honesty” issues?  Or will he sit back and allow the moderators to do the dirty work for him?  You can be certain that if the moderators do not pounce in on Carson; Trump will.

While all of the back and forth with Carson, Bush and Trump may be entertaining I think the real story tonight lies with Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal and why they want to execute all the homosexuals.

Allow me to explain.

The National Religious Liberties Conference was held on November 6-7 in Des Moines, Iowa.  The main organizer of this event was anti-LGBT pastor, Ken Swanson.

Swanson mesmerized the audience with his hateful fearmongering rhetoric.  He railed that both the old and new testaments of the Bible clearly call for the execution of all homosexuals.  Yes, Swanson advocates imposing the death penalty on all gay people.

Swanson also believes that  J. K. Rowling’s Professor Dumbledore is Harry Potter’s homosexual mentor; noting that rather than allow their children to read Harry Potter “for tens of millions of parents it would be better that a milestone be hung around their neck and they be drowned at the bottom of the sea.”

Joining Swanson on stage…Philip Kayser and Joel McDermon.  Both are advocates of “Christian Reconstructionism”… the belief that the United States should be governed by a particular interpretation of biblical law.  Sort of the Christian version of Sharia law.  Kayser and McDermon also call for the execution of homosexuals” “While many homosexuals would be executed.” Wrote Kayser. “The threat of capital punishment can be restorative.”

Also appearing on stage to address conference:  GOP presidential candidates: Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal.

When asked why he agreed to address this particular group Cruz claimed that he had no knowledge of Swanson’s anti-LGBT beliefs.

When Swanson asked Cruz if he believed it was important for any presidential candidate to submit himself to Jesus Christ as king.  Cruz responded: “Any president who doesn’t begin everyday on his knees isn’t fit to be commander-in-chief.”

Apparently Cruz, who proclaims himself to be the foremost defender of the tenants of the Constitution, missed the “no religious test” clause stated in Article VI, paragraph 3.

In summary…tonight’s GOP debate for the office of President of the United States will feature: a guy who claims he went after his mother with a hammer and attempted to stab another individual with a knife…a real estate developer who believes all undocumented immigrants are criminals and rapists…a low energy legacy candidate who is floundering in the polls…a sitting Florida senator who hates the senate and doesn’t show up for the votes…and three guys who think it is reasonable to address a group of religious zealots who want to execute all the homosexuals.

It should be quite an evening!
