Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is not the result of astute political maneuvering by the Republicans but rather the culmination of years of the lethargic incompetence put on display by the Democrats.
It should come as no surprise that Trump’s pick for the SCOTUS vacancy would come from the ultra conservative list provided by the ultra conservative Federalist Society. Furthermore, no one should be shocked and deeply saddened that the self-absorbed narcissist-in-chief would select the one person on that list who has publicly advocated that a sitting president should not be subject to subpoena, indictment or prosecution while serving his/her term.
That Democrats have their hair on fire about this pick is a joke; a poorly orchestrated charade of faux outrage to save face and cover for their own incompetence.

The Brett Kavanaugh pick for the Supreme Court happened when Democrats sat at home on election day and let Republicans wrest control of the government from their lethargic incompetent hands. They have only themselves to blame for the fix that they are in.
The 2016 campaign saw massive movement for change on both sides of the ideological spectrum. That non-traditional candidates like Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders attracted huge crowds and substantive polling numbers proves the point. Their followers were as diverse ideologically as could be but together they offered a loud clarion call to Washington…the status quo is no longer acceptable.
Republicans listened and awarded their party’s nomination to a bombastic Washington outsider. Democrats did not heed the warning and awarded their stewardship to the poster child for more of the same. Then to add insult to injury, they stayed home believing their party’s victory was inevitable. After all Clinton had run a strong campaign against Obama and failed. It was her turn. The Party moved heaven and earth to secure her as the standard bearer; tilting the table toward her and away from Sanders. Even handing her the questions before debate. She lost and the hair on fire finger pointing began in earnest.
Democrats blamed Clinton as a flawed candidate…blamed a strategy that didn’t give enough attention to the poor lost souls in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania…blamed Comey… and blamed the Russians. Now, with decades of a conservative majority in the nation’s highest court staring them in the face, they come bearing pitchforks and torches; demanding that the party leadership use every tool in their tool box to thwart the confirmation of the devil incarnate, Kavanaugh.
Clinton didn’t put Democrats in this weak position. Neither did, Comey or the Russians or Mitch McConnell’s brinksmanship. Democrats put themselves in this position by ignoring the will of the electorate and failing to marshal there superior numbers at the ballot box. Republicans cannot win elections if Democrats organize effectively. What Republicans can do if given the chance is stack the judiciary for decades to come. That’s what the incompetent, complacent arrogant Democrats did. They gave Republicans an opening and the GOP stormed through it with a vengeance; seizing control of the White House, both chambers in congress and now the judiciary.
What we are seeing is the old adage that “elections matter” playing out in real time.
Democrats can point fingers all they want.
They have only themselves to blame.
