EXTREME ARROGANCE

The longer Donald Trump resides in the White House, the more arrogant he becomes.

You can now add the Founding Fathers to the long list of bedrock institutions disparaged by Donald Trump.

It seems Donald Trump has an issue with the United States Constitution.  He doesn’t like its rules.  He finds them archaic.  He says theses archaic rules force people to make bad decisions.  He says that at some point he will take a look at changing those rules.

Trump doesn’t like the filibuster.  He doesn’t like reconciliation.  He doesn’t like having to pass bills through two houses of congress.  He doesn’t like them because they impede his march toward anarchy.

The Founding Fathers saw guys like Trump coming down the road.  Would be kings and dictators whose sole voice from on high would rule the common man.  They were having none of it.  They fortuitously put checks and balances into place to keep guys like Trump in check.

We would normally be shocked and appalled to hear a sitting president question the validity of our founding document.  But Trump has made the denigration of our long standing institutions such an integral part of his rhetoric that we barely notice.

Trump has called into question the validity and fairness of our electoral process; saying 5 million people voted illegally in the last election.  All of them voting for his opponent.

Trump has denigrated the intelligence community for its determination that the Russian government interfered in our electoral process.  He has openly mocked them; wondering aloud how we could trust an institution that got it so wrong on the run up to the Iraq war.

Trump has disparaged the judiciary.  Referring to a 9th district court judge who ruled against him as a “so called judge” while questioning the bias of another judge “because he is Mexican.”  Showing his dictatorial leanings, Trump voices his contempt for the restrictions placed upon his presidency by the law; rhetorically asking how an appointed judge could overturn the ruling of an elected president.

Trump is engaged in an ongoing war against the press.  He has labeled them “fake news”  “the most dishonest people in the world” and “the enemy of the American people.”

Last but not least…Trump has disparaged is country.  Offering a moral equivalency between The United States and the brutal rule of the Russian government under Vladimir Putin.

All guilty for having the audacity to obstruct him from turning whatever nonsensical notion he has in his head into law.

Now Trump has the Founding Fathers in his crosshairs.

Which side are you on?

Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Hamilton…

…or Donald Trump?
