IT’S YOUR CHOICE!

Now that Senate Republicans have successfully hijacked jurisprudence in this country for the next generation, congress now turns its attention to the topic they care about the most…re-election.

Republicans enter the final weeks of the mid-term election season buoyed by a bump in the polls attributed to their ability to “plough through” their misogyny and confirm a right wing political operative to the highest court in the land. Republican candidates will rave about the robust economy, rising wages, historic tax cuts, their installation of 22 conservative jurists to federal posts, their repeal of costly business killing regulations, their repeal of the dreaded Obamacare mandate and of course, two appointments to the Supreme Court.

If you are a major corporation or a top 1% earner, these claims of economic growth and prosperity will most certainly ring true.  For the Republican policies under President Trump were designed specifically to serve your needs.

But if you are a member of the middle class, the working poor, a person of color, a woman or a minority, these Republican proclamations ring hollow.

What you won’t hear at Republican campaign rallies is that 83% of those tax cuts went to major corporations and folks earning over $500,000 per year.  The middle class and the working poor who desperately need the cash received a pittance.  Those making less than $25,000; received $60.  Those making $46,000-$86,000; $930.  Not exactly the windfall that raise a family of four’s quality of life.  But if you are making over $500,000 you’ll get back $51,000.  Real money that can pay for needed repairs, set up a college fund or a start a retirement plan.

Here’s what else you won’t hear at Republican rallies…

You won’t hear that the modest rise in wages still lags behind inflation.  That the booming stock market only benefits the 30% of wage earners who have the disposable income to invest.  That the tax cuts the Republicans gave mostly to the rich were funded by the subsidies they stole from the Obamacare exchanges set up to help the poor and the middle class.  Subsidies that once allowed 15-20 million people access to affordable health care.  You won’t hear that the theft of the subsidies and the repeal of the mandate will cause health care and health care insurance to skyrocket by more than 35% in 2019.  You won’t hear that thanks to Republican trade wars farmers are going out of business.  You won’t hear that thanks to Republican tariffs everything you buy at Wal-Mart costs more.  You won’t hear Republicans say:  “Enjoy the tax cuts.  You’re gonna’ need the money.”

(Oh, by the way…you won’t hear that while the tax cuts for major corporations and big wage earners will continue forever, the meager tax cuts for the middle class and working poor will cease to exist in four years.)

Last but certainly not least…while you middle class and working poor Americans will not reap the benefits of the Republican economic boom you will get to view it all through the prism of a presidential administration that circumvents the rule of law, denigrates cornerstone institutions, offends allies, praises despots, and sows divisiveness, hatred, racism, bigotry and misogyny while lying to you multiple times each and every day.

The only way to stop this horrific assault on our democracy is at the ballot box.

If you are poor or a member of the working poor or middle class and tired of your plot in life.  If you are a person of color and offended by the false equivalence in Charlottesville.  If you are of Latina descent and tired of being labeled a rapist and a breeder.  If you are a woman who is tired of the misogyny, tired of the attacks on your reproductive rights and of tired being ignored.  If you are a member of the LBGTQ community outraged that your rights are some how considered to be “less than” those of your heterosexual bothers and sisters…

then you must VOTE come November 6.

If you stay home…you get the government you deserve.

It’s your choice!
